AFAR
#AFAR products are inspired by the nature, soul and energy of the African land.
Much of the cotton used for the bags comes from cooperatives of small farmers in north-eastern Ethiopia where cotton is still grown using traditional methods.
The leather used for the products comes from Zebu, the progenitor of all cattle living on the Ethiopian highlands where it is bred to help farmers plow the fields. The pigments that are used to dye tissues are extracted from the earth and some local plants.
Only water-based colours are used for the printing of fabrics, and the process is handmade from traditional wooden print paintings that the Chinese invented 3 centuries ago.
